What is Link Crew?
Link Crew is part of the Boomerang Project and works as a high school transition program with junior and seniors leading as mentors. At Crystal River High School we strive for freshmen to feel as though they belong here from the first time they set foot on campus, until they walk across the stage as graduating seniors. Link Crew leaders serve as mentors to the freshmen academically as well as serve as positive role models to both the freshmen and the other students at CRHS.
Link Crew begins by Pirate upperclassmen inviting their freshmen crew to orientation. These Pirate leaders, show the freshmen what it means to be a pirate! They also provide them with valuable tools and information to make their transition to high school a little easier.
Before the first day of school, the Pirate Leaders check in with their freshmen crew to make sure they are comfortable going into their first day back. Those leaders then help guide the new pirates on their first day back, as well as checking in periodically throughout the week. The valuable social and academic follow ups that Pirate Link Crew Leaders will be doing throughout the school year, will give our new pirates a built in peer support system.
Link Crew will be participating in various school activities throughout the school year. Keep an eye out for updates as to where you will see us next!
